Season 4 begins with Korra tentatively trying to use lightning bending under Asami’s instruction. Asami is wearing a betrothal necklace. Korra is struggling with it when she meets with the two Tribal Chiefs of the Water Tribes, Hotah and Varrick. Varrick is the same as the original timeline except he became Chief when Tonraq died as they shared paternal grandparents. He is also married to Zhu Li Moon. They are concerned about Kuvira, the Great Uniter. Kuvira is reuniting the States of the Earth Kingdom. As the wife of Toph Beifong’s eldest grandchild Baatar, Kuvira feels uniquely qualified to do so. She is similar to our timeline without the ‘locking up fire and waterbenders’. Kuvira has a council comprised of Bolin, Opal, Lau Gan-Lan who is the current leader of Cabbage Corp, Guan and Baatar. Despite her reservations, Opal wants to support her brother and is a representative of the air nomads. She is also visibly pregnant with Bolin’s baby. Kuvira is using deadly force to unite the States. Meanwhile Lau Gan-Lan is secretly building his own secret forces.
Korra leaves the Avatar State and tells the crowd that she was sorry and if they give her a chance, she will make the government fair for everyone bender or non-bender. Then Amon attacks her. He is about to finish her off when the Lieutenant appears and electrocutes him to death. Korra thanks and apologises to the Lieutenant, who accepts her apology. She asks him if he is interested at running for office, which he says he will consider. Korra and Asami go for healing from Katara, which fails. She goes to meditate alone and talks to Aang. Aang is able to restore her bending. She proceeds to restore the bending of Asami and they embrace before separating, blushing. Korra restores the bending of everyone other than the Triad criminals and Tarrloq who refuses to be healed and accepts his fate as life imprisonment.
Season three begins the same way as OTL. President Raiko blames Korra for his troubles. Asami, Bolin and Tenzin go with Korra to find out if there are indeed airbenders caused by the release of energy by the spirit portals. They meet the energy lion turtle Aang did. He reveals that his 4 brethren returned to the spirit world after receding briefly back in the material world. His air lion turtle brother gave bending to a number of people distantly descended from the airbenders. One of them is our villain Zaheer. He restarts the Red Lotus, noting with sadness that Amon and Unalaq perished. The Red Lotus were all about equality, spirituality and freedom. But Amon and Unalaq lost their way. From the Red Lotus in hiding, he learns his wife P’Li, his best friend Ghazan and Ghazan’s wife Ming Hua have been separated. He learns Ghazan and Ming Hua’s daughter Kuvira has been living in Zaofu with the Beifongs.

The other 3 kids are far ahead of her. Jinora and Korra don’t see eye to eye, Jinora is sad she never got to meet Aang. After a fight with Tenzin, who promised she could leave the Island to go to Republic City; Jinora agrees to help her escape. Here things continue as in the OTL except that Lin Beifong is not Chief Of Police as she retired to raise her 3 airbending children with Tenzin and another on the way.
The Pyrrhic victory leads to a sad note as the Retired Fire Lord Zuko looks at a photo of the Gaang. He is the last one left. His wife, the elderly Mai and his younger but senior citizen sister Princess Kiyi, comfort him. Two more elderly women come to talk to him, one lively with grey hair, pushing one in a wheelchair, blue flame in her hand. “They are at peace now, Zuzu. Accept it.” Despite himself, Zuko smiles at his wheelchair bound sister Azula and at her wife Ty Lee. The show closes with a wedding. Bolin is holding a little boy called Mako, chiding him for misbehaving. Opal delights their son with a blast of air. Dressed in a blue gown, Avatar Korra walks towards what looks like a priest, who is revealed to be Tenzin. Korra passed Lin, Jinora by her side while little Rohan sits on her lap. Waiting for Korea, is Asami Sato. Tenzin begins and both women affirm their vows. The show ends with their wedding as the Gaang, the Beifongs, Ikki, Bumi, Kya and Hiroshi Sato watch on in their spirit forms all smiling.
